And here is a great opportunity! Whilst in Krakow, why not take a day in the fabulous Tatra mountains? You get a ride to Zakopane, the traditional winter capital of Poland, and then participate in some mind blowing winter stag activities. This famous winter sports centre is located about 2 hours from the town and here the sophisticated city and simpler highland cultures meet. You encounter folk traditions and the amazing food and drink, and enjoy it all with spectacular views over the Tatra mountains from the peak of Mount Gubalowka at 1123m (Ben Nevis is 700m!).

Zorbing
Let's take a tumble!
We've all heard the one about the lady who dried here freshly shampooed cat in the tumble drier and here is the chance to find out how the moggy felt. And it's available all year round.
When you zorb, you are strapped into a large plastic sphere with an aircushion all around to protect your delicate little bodies. You then roll down a gradient about 70 yards long and get rattled around until you either:
Land in a lake (summer only in Krakow !) or get stopped artificially during colder months! Either way, it is fantastic fun and you will stagger, giggling giddily from the sphere before plodding back up the hill for your next turn.
So. Let's get rolling!

Rope park climbing
Getting into the swing of things.
Whether you fancy yourself as a Special Forces expert or just plain Tarzan, this might be just the thing for you! This fun pastime offers 3 routes with different levels of difficulty. Whichever you choose, you will be climbing on rope structures suspended about 10m from the ground in the stunning Tatra mountains.
You are offered professional training and the usual safety gear. There are bridges, swings, zip lines and other challenges.
And for the genuine adrenalin junky there is always the Tower of Power! This is a 12m wooden device with a nice safe platform at the top. There are 3 ways up:
- a net
- a climbing wall and
- a Jacob's ladder
But there is only one way down: You have to jump on a swing. Guaranteed to bring out the gorilla in any man!
Last but not the least - if you don't fancy climbing you may prefer to take a Tyrolean descent instead of any of the 3 routes. It's a great "short" ride... like 400m down the slope on the rope !! It's the longest Tyrolean descent in Poland- guaranteed to bring some extra weight into your pants...

Snowmobiles aka the Chill Factor

A great way to prepare for a chilled out evening is to brave the ice and snow on a vehicle made for the job. These fantastic little 2 man motorised mechanical (maniacal) skis can go almost anywhere and, in the pristine mountain air of the Polish Tatras, provide the ideal cure for the hangover. They also go like stink!
Our stag gets to ride in tandem with one of his mates for an hour in the breathtaking scenery of the mountains around Zakopane, with each of them taking the helm for 30-35 minutes. The jaunt takes you through fantastic countryside and the exhilaration is something that is never forgotten.
"So what about the weather" you may ask! If there is not enough snow at the time of your visit, we will swap the snowmobiles for quads and you then get a mountain "safari" on 4 wheels instead of ski tracks. But don't worry - the Tatras are famous for their snows and brilliant, sunny weather!
And when you have finished? A hot beer in a local hostelry while you compare experiences with your mates. Or a cold one in the summer!

Hints: warm clothes are essential or you can rent a snow suit for approx. 6 GBP/pp; available when there is snow- if there isn't then snow mobiles will be replaced with 250 CC quads ; min 8pax; take your driver licence with you- otherwise you can only enjoy snowmobiling from a backseat as a passenger
Snow tubing & snow rafting
Now here's something to get you into a spin! You get put into something resembling a lorry's inner tyre and then whoosh your way at high speed pulled by a sadist on a snowmobile!
Another crazy variant for the group minded party, is snow rafting. The raft is a pontoon (a bit like a converted Zodiac boat) in which you and your group get to be hauled around in a similar fashion. In either case it's wild and whacky and you are dragged around a bumpy course at indecent speed!
Once again, this activity takes place in the Tatra mountains near Zakopane and is guaranteed to move the adrenalin around your systems. So included are the transfers to and from this famous resort.
