As my devoted readers will know, I’m a lover of great food and international cuisine. As sales director of Party Krakow, I have to answer loads of questions about restaurants and good tucker. I’m frequently required to inform our Krakow stags about what to eat and where but, not unsurprisingly, the popularity of Poland has provoked an interest in its national cuisine.

So what is Polish food all about? That’s a good question and I hope you can learn a bit from these brief notes.

Most good Polish restaurants lack the typical glamour of competitors offering the joys of French, Italian, Corsican and other menus. But you can be sure of very prompt service and a very clean environment and, since this is reflected in the prices you pay, most of you will never notice the difference and be very glad you chose Polish.

There is one rule in Poland that is never disobeyed: “A guest in my house is like God in my house.” During even the leanest years of Stalinist domination, the Poles observed their feasts and the cooks always emerged from their ordeals with distinction. This same culture continues and pervades our local Polish restaurants and guests go home feeling well fed for a fraction of the price that they would have paid for other cuisines.

It seems a quite simple deal:

Vast amounts of food will be served

Every home prepared dish is as good as your Grandmother’s

Soup is the starter to every meal (sometimes even breakfast)

Main dishes are enormous

Beer is the main drink

Service is good but simple

You will want to return

So what kind of food can our horny stag expect to eat? There is really too much to describe but good party organizers will point you in this direction:

Stag Dinner in Traditional Krakow Style:

Typical soups

Cream of onion with croutons

Cream of garlic

Cream of tomato

Zurek

Barstch

Typical Main Dishes, usually served with an optional side salad

Veal cutlet with vegetables

Fried chicken

Pork in many styles (highly recommended is galonka*)

Sauteed trout

Pike

Salmon

Desserts

Desserts are quite simple and if you require sweetening up after the first two courses, choose something like this:

Ice cream

Cheese cake

Crepes with various fillings

So. Our hungry stag groups can be assured of very good food in Krakow and the local cuisine is very well worth trying. As always, however, the recommendations of a reputable, locally based stag party operator are useful when it comes to getting the very best.

For the more adventurous stag or his partner, here is a recipe got galonka. This is roasted ham hock in beer marinade and once tasted, never forgotten!

*Galonka

Ingredients

1 pork knuckle (hock) per person

Bay leaves

10 juniper berries

10 black pepper corns

Curry powder (optional)

Cooking oil

Beer (I use Guiness in UK but any beer is OK – the sugar content adds colour and the beer adds flavour)

2 medium onions quartered

3-4 garlic cloves

2 sliced carrots

Method

Wash and dry the knuckles.

In a large stock pan, place the knuckles and cover with boiling water to a depth of 2 inches. Return to the boil and skim off as much scum as possible

When the stock is reasonably clear, add the bay leaves, pepper corns, juniper berries, and the vegetables with some curry powder. This is optional and is only there to provide a background flavour. So maybe one teaspoon of strong curry or one tablespoon of milder types, but not more

Cover the pan and simmer gently for 1.5 – 2 hours. Have the occasional look and add more water if necessary

After the cooking time, remove the knuckles from the stock and rinse them off. The stock can certainly be used in soups but need to be left until cold and then thoroughly skimmed of the lard that will form on top

The lard can also be used – your Granny called it dripping but in these days of cholesterol consciousness – you may wish to discard it. Please don’t do the same with the stock – once skimmed it will be a marvelous base for soups, stews and casseroles

Heat the oven to 350F

Place the knuckles in a roasting pan. I normally use a rack over a half can of Guiness. Cover will foil and pop them into the hot oven for about 90 minutes or until tender. Every 15 minutes or so, spoon a little more Guiness over the meat. 15 minutes before the cooking time is finished, add a bit more beer and then return to the oven uncovered. This crisps up the outside layer of fat, adds flavour and makes the dish look great. Because of the thick layer of fat (which you do not eat!!) it‘s difficult to overcook this dish

Serve on individual plates with bread, mustard and horseradish

Each person has to slice through about half and inch of fat that has kept the interior meat in fantastic condition during the cooking process

Eat well!

As our readers will know by now, there are literally hundreds of good places for the Krakow stag to fortify his body. I’ve droned on endlessly about the Polish, Italian, French and other culinary delights available here, but there is one true theme in stag fortification that is totally universal: Chicken ‘n’ chips!

The Hooters restaurant justifies its central position in our great city for a variety of reasons. And these are:

Brilliantly cooked and succulent cuts of chicken and other meats with good sauces

Lashings of non-greasy chips

Flat screen TV’s for sports events

The best looking waitresses in the world

Let’s examine those ingredients for a good Krakow stag meal one by one:

You’ve all eaten fried chicken with chips but this restaurant actually turns it out as a healthy meal and is as different from your average MacDonald’s as chalk is from cheese. You eat a lot of tucker but never leave with the feeling that you’d rather have gone home for a fry up or a sausage sandwich.

These chips are really very good. Well peeled, elegantly trimmed into appealing shapes, then deep fried in fresh oil, the potato chip becomes a delicacy that Jamie Oliver would recommend. I think I’m taking the rip at this point !!

Television might appeal when you are eating, especially when there is the prospect of some great international sport to watch. It also saves the Krakow stag party organizer from having to watch his mates gently slide under the table. This is a great venue for lads who need to top up on beer and other calories while keeping up with vital sports news!

The waitresses? No bull crap here! Any of these girls could successfully replace the ladies we fantasize over in Playboy and they are polite, educated and very pleasant. To be stunningly beautiful in the UK is a rarity. Here in Poland it’s commonplace, so a good looking girl in Krakow has to have a genuine personality in order to succeed in her life. These girls have it all and are unconscious of that fact, so they really add something special to the nice food they serve.

As usual, in this great party city, the beers are the best and the cheapest in Europe. The hospitality is great and the stag party in Krakow is well recommended to visit this restaurant. Great value!

Phil

Dining for Stags in Hooters Restaurant, Krakow

The Brewery Dinner – sumptuous food and scrumptious beer

Krakow has many special secrets but one of them that the dedicated beer-coiffing, party- loving stag should learn about is the microbrewery. This is a genuine beer producer situated about a minute’s walk from the very centre of town so it’s no big deal to stagger from here to any of the other fantastic stag venues in Krakow.

You enter the establishment by a wide stairs from the street and move into a large, open hall where the drinker enjoys the fresh brews for which the brewery is famous. But the diner turns left and goes to the rather more exclusive rooms reserved for those who want to eat well whilst having tremendous fun with the beers.

The brewery dinner is the perfect way to start a Polish stag night with a menu that is as tasty as it looks. And it looks gorgeous! The restaurant is stylish, the service excellent and portions ample.

The smart Krakow stag (as long as he has no objection to pigs!) should enjoy the galonka. ‘What the ****,’ I hear you ask, ‘is “galonka”?’ Galonka is a mini joint of pork that comes from the “wrist” or “ankle” of the animal. Before being individually roasted, it is marinated in dark beer and herbs, then skewered on a mini spit and served at the table with sauces, bread and salad. Each person gets his own version the size of a small chicken!

The surrounding fat is a deep golden brown in colour and almost an inch thick. The hungry stag simply peels this aside and finds tender, dark meat in large quantities inside. It is simply stunning food and is the best way to prepare the body for a long, long stag night.

But what about the beer? This is served in 5 litre containers called “giraffes”. The beers of choice, whether that is light, medium or dark, are served by the diners from a tap at the base. Sounds whacky, works a treat!

And the beer itself is unique. Full of flavour, freshly tapped and easy to drink since its sparkle is natural and not the result of artificially introduced bubbles! It’s also bloody strong!

The menu is pretty extensive, so those stags that have issues with meat in general or pork in particular, still do very nicely as well.

So, gentlemen members of stag parties in Krakow, there you have one of the best ways to eat and drink in Polish style before hitting the town!

. Krakow is a wonderful, fun-filled city that is deservedly among the top three European stag destinations. Just over 2 hours from London, the guys arrive at the airport and face the ordeal of another 30 minute journey before hitting the centre

The old city is marvelously compact with a central Renaissance square measuring 200m by 200m. It’s beautiful and spacious with superbly balanced architecture housing too many good bars, restaurants and clubs to shake a stick at. Any of the many side streets that lead into a maze of smaller lanes can take you to literally hundreds more. The trendiest part of the city, Kazimierz has as many tempting venues again, and is situated a 10 minute stroll away from the market place.

So how does the Krakow stag party organizer ensure that he’s taking his group to the best places? These are the ones that welcome large groups of party guys, hell-bent on a good weekend. The ones with the nicest staff, biggest TV screens for sporting events and warmest welcomes.

The most practical way of doing this is by using an experienced guide with good language skills to steer the boys around and point them in the right direction, especially during the first night. This ensures that the Krakow stag-do gets off to a good start and that the lads have a pretty good knowledge of what’s on for large groups. If they all stick together, then nobody gets lost which, depending on the members, might be a good thing!

Good organizers provide 2 guides for groups over 12, so it is always easy to chat to the guide and ask advice on any questions that arise and get help in translation. So when it comes to choice of lap club or night club, this is always available.

A great trick is to combine the pub tour with a basic weekend package. If organizers do this, then they should receive a 6 hour guided tour, free lap club and nightclub entry and a beer or vodka thrown in. A professional stag party organizer in Krakow will also be able to direct the group to some of the very best bars on earth whilst giving the option to tailor stag evenings according to musical taste. Here are some examples of what the Krakow stag can expect.

In the heart of the old town, it’s well worth asking the guide to show you Rewolucja. This is a packed venue with loud music to which dancing on the tables seems pretty normal. Opening hours tend to be flexible and the place only appears to close when there is nobody left to serve.

If your preference is jazz, look out for the Piano Rouge in the main square. It’s done out like a Parisian brothel in plush red, extremely comfortable, classy and comes with superb music.

A brisk 10 minute stroll takes you from the centre to the heart of Kazimierz, the former Jewish district. There are literally hundreds of great places to choose and here are just two of them, both in the central square.

Singer Bar

So why “Singer”? Would you expect a solo singing performance? If so, you might be disappointed though the music played is very well chosen. The bar actually takes its name from a brand of sewing machine, Jewish owned and American based. The average Krakow stag’s grandmother almost certainly owned a Singer sewing machine so if he visits the bar, he will instantly recognize the examples that adorn the numerous nooks where rickety seats support the drinker.

Alchemia

One of the first bars to open after the political changes, Alchemia continues to be one of the magnets of Krakow. Drinkers have a choice of several rooms, each with their own tastefully decorated charms. The atmosphere is sophisticated though informal, and Alchemia draws in a fair number of “arty” types as well as the “farty” ones we all know and love.

So, gentlemen stag party boozers, there you have just 4 bars, chosen at random, to give you an idea of what to expect from a guided pub tour in Krakow. Cheers!

When it comes to stately travel around Krakow, there are a few sweet options for the Krakow stag group. The obvious choice, for small groups, is an extended limousine of American origin. Pretty nice and very impressive to draw up to your hotel in such a car! ‘Wow! Here comes Michael Jackson’s uncle’s cousin’s daughter!’

There is however another, sweeter option for the discerning traveler who wants style, comfort and the status of anonymity.

There is only one company in Krakow that has taken the trouble to produce a limousine that provides a classy ride without the squeaks and rattles of a Detroit-made stretch limo. With this company, you can forget the tinny limo idea and relax in real European style! It was originally engineered in Sweden, then brought to Krakow for its conversion, and then painted a lovely gold colour. The tinted windows guarantee privacy whist the boys can still see the delights of the city they are passing through, while the envious public have no idea of who is on board or what is going on.

Behold the Party Bus!

Originally built as a 64 seat international express, the lady now offers only 32 seats, all in sumptuously comfortable red hide. So grab a seat, stretch out and take a look around!

Above your head, you will see sub-lighting and cool decoration. Around you, you will see bars that sell beers at around a quid a pint and also vodka, bubbly and fruit juice.

Whether the stag group opts for this luxury as an airport pick up or as a city tour, the sound system is staggering – the bass will give you a balls in the mouth buzz that you’ll never forget. On average, the drive takes 90 minutes, so there is loads of opportunity to invite a lady dancer to show off her goodies using the dancing pole that is kindly provided. Many Krakow stag groups opt for 2 or more dancers since, if the group size is of moderate size, the costs are comfortably low and the girls have the space to strut their stuff with style. The lads simply sit back, admire the view and neck into their drinks.

There is also a 37 inch flat screen plus a gaming console and karaoke. In short, this is the coolest way to travel in the coolest stag destination on the planet!

Whitewater Rafting for the Stag Party in Krakow.

For the uninitiated stag party member, whitewater rafting is a challenging, adrenalin-raising activity to clear the cobwebs after a heavy night out on the town. All that comes between a weekend reveller’s arse and a good soaking is a good quality inflatable raft and a bit of determination!

This activity became known in the 70s and is increasingly popular with stag party groups. The modern raft is quite a sturdy and well designed piece of kit, consisting of numerous layers of extremely tough rubberized fabric. Independent air chambers are incorporated in a boat between 11 and 20 ft long, by 6 to 8 ft wide. And this is the stag party’s chariot for thrills! They normally carry groups of between 4 and 12 members.

In Krakow, the stag party can look forward to 2 versions of whitewater rafting. The first is held on the Dunajec river in the Pieniny mountains. This glorious river, forming part of the border between southern Poland and Slovakia, is one of the region’s many spectacular natural resources. The scenery is simply stunning and the unpolluted water some of the best in Europe. If you imagine the River Wye between England and Wales, and then put it into alpine scenery with huge mountains as a backdrop, you can see the Dunajec.

It’s quite a way from Krakow, but good party organizers treat the journey as part of the day out. It’s a 6 hour stag party event with around 2 hours on the water and 2 hours is sufficient for anybody! Beer is provided on the return journey only, since, as in any other stag activity, alcohol is not recommended as a breakfast ingredient!

The alternative is the Olympic centre just 30 minutes away from the centre. It lacks the splendour of the mountain scenery, but it’s one of only three purpose built centres for this sport.

Either alternative provides great entertainment and it all comes down to how much time the guys have on their stag party schedules. The shorter version, in Krakow, provides all the buzz required, but the Dunajec version, with the leisurely journey, combines thrills with beauty and some relaxation.

So what is whitewater rafting all about and how much fun is it? There are 6 grades, ranging from something your grandmother would enjoy to an activity that is so dangerous that your life insurance premiums would go off the scale if properly reported to your insurers. But don’t worry – the Krakow stag party is something to be remembered for fun and excitement, not multiple mortality rates!

Here are the grades:

Small rough areas requiring minimal skill

More rough water, possibly some rocks, requiring basic skills with a paddle

Whitewater with small waves, possibly a drop, but not regarded as dangerous. This requires more advanced skill with the paddle

Whitewater with medium waves, some large rocks and a larger drop. You might lose your breakfast on this one and skill levels need to be pretty advanced

Whitewater with large waves, even larger rocks and hazards with the possibility of an even larger drop. The inexperienced will lose their breakfast on this one and that is why they are not permitted to try it. Skill level: Advanced Whitewater Experience.

Don’t ask! This is for the super-talented or suicidally insane and chances of survival are extremely limited without a great deal of luck

So there you have the grades relating to whitewater rafting. But don’t worry, the Krakow stag party rafter will never be subjected to the more extreme levels of this sport.

As always, apply the following bits of common sense:

Arrive sober

Listen carefully to the advice given at the briefing given by the qualified instructor

Use all safety equipment provided

Don’t move around unnecessarily

Never endanger your mates in any way and never even threaten to push somebody overboard, even as a joke

Stay “onboard” and don’t “upset the boat”

Whitewater rafting is fun and increasingly popular among stag party groups in Krakow. It’s handled professionally by professionals and the amateur should feel safe in their hands. Whether the choice is in the Dunajec region or locally in Krakow, the thrills are there for all to enjoy and remember. Just one final word of advice: leave the gladrags at home because you are going to get wet. So bring a change of warm clothing with you. Temperatures are usually in the 80s in Krakow, from May till October, but the wind chill can make you feel uncomfortable. Have fun!

One of the things commonly asked of us who are lucky enough to live here, is “What does Krakow have to offer?” Good question and the simple answer is “lots”! Many stag groups visit this magnificent city and visitors frequently ask local Brits for advice. I’ve got to know a few party goers and a couple of companies that act as organizers, so I’m relatively qualified to answer the question.

The Krakow stag party can get an enormous amount of fun here, cheaply and easily, but there are many things of interest here that are not advertised. But good Krakow stag do organizers are always happy to give some words of advice – you just have to find the right one. This has always been my experience, and locally based companies seem to be better in touch with what they are selling.

Last October 26th, My good (sometimes) lady and I were taking a stroll along the banks of the wonderful river that meanders lazily but gracefully through the surrounding countryside and actually gives this fine city it’s southern margin. The weather was a pretty agreeable 25C and very sunny.

As we wandered along the strand, passing under the numerous bridges that adorn the river, we came within view of the Wawel Castle, we noticed an invitation to board a boat and travel to the Tyniec Monastery and back for a walloping 40 PLN (9GBP for the two of us). Two hours in each direction, fabulous weather and cheap beer!

We accepted the challenge and bought our tickets, hopped up on to the foredeck and took the best seats available. Being a solitary sort of bloke, I was well pleased to see that we were the only passengers on board this largish boat.

As sod’s law would have it, things changed. The seats around and behind us were gradually covered by arses belonging to a great variety of nations. Krakow is a very cosmopolitan city and we do our best to cater for all types!

Consoled by the fact that we were in the forward seats, we didn’t worry as an assorted bunch of folk joined the trip and filled the seating. We got a bit riled when some late arrivals pitched up and stationed their unwelcome butts at the front of the boat, thus obliterating our treasured view forward.

Sitting and listening to the people around us was a delight and an insight into the way that things work here. The guy behind me was English and evidently part of a Krakow stag group that was not well informed. He’d bought a ticket for a 30 minute jaunt and then got on the wrong boat!

The tour we were on was scheduled to last 4 hours – pretty good at the price with a nice bar for the necessary refreshments. The poor fellow made a call just after we had set sail and I heard him report that he was on a short river cruise and would be joining his mates in the bar in 30 minutes. Naturally curious, I turned around and asked him if he liked swimming. He was a decent sort and just laughed it off and had a great 4 hr cruise for a very reasonable 1.5 GBP.

This is an example of the wonderful opportunities away from the bare-breasted girls and the glamour of the centre. Krakow is the best city in which I’ve ever lived and Prague, London, New York, Budapest and Vienna simply do not compare. The stag party member in Krakow has an infinite variety of activities at his disposal

Mud Wrestling and BBC

The less athletic stag party, going about its business, might wish to consider the idea of simply relaxing, in warm surroundings, and watching a brace of babes, embalmed with baby lotion, having a mock combat.

It’s interesting, but mud wrestling has long been a temple of eroticism reserved for the few. In Krakow, it’s fairly easy to attend a Balsamic Babes’ Clash, or BBC for short. But what is mud wrestling and what are its origins?

The simple definition of mud wrestling is a physical confrontation between 2 people liberally lubricated with mud or baby oil. The name of the game is “fun” and there is normally neither need nor intention to damage an opponent. Presumably due to the fact that embalming fluids are best applied to naked flesh (and a shit load easier to clean up afterwards), minimal clothing is worn. Hence the eroticism and appeal to a macho Krakow stag.

Typically, baby oil wrestling in Krakow takes place in a well heated and sensibly located venue with beer available to calm the spectator. It’s a social occasion and the sporting side is kept to a minimum, but it,s not unknown for stags to place bets on the winner of an exciting bout!

Not much is known about the precise origins of mud wrestling, but it possibly gained its first large scale airing in the 1966 R Lee Frost pseudo-documentary Mondo Freudo. Then, in the 80, a Texan wrestling promoter organized an “Indian Dirt Contest” in a sand pit. The fortunate outcome of an excess of water in the sand pit led to the combatants being caked in mud and the genesis of mud wrestling.

Such is the popularity of the event, that the fun is now available in nightclubs and is even used at fund raising events. For the Krakow stag party members, however, this can only be described as a “fun raising” addition to their itineraries.

But the human mind is a wonderful thing and infinite human imagination has engendered many sub-species of mud wrestling. The lubricant variations now include gelatine, rice pudding and even the ubiquitous mashed potato! Sometimes, participants are expensively dressed in fine evening wear – great fun to see an expensive outfit buggered beyond redemption, but in Krakow, clothing requirements are minimal! And, yes, the hapless stag is pulled into the ring in the final round and has his genital strengths (or weaknesses) publicly displayed for his envious (or derisive) mates!

Oil wrestling is a traditional sport in Turkey where it is often practised in all-male groups. Our readers may be assured, however, that Krakow stag groups only get to see fit and attractive ladies, glowing with health and baby oil, entertaining people and having fun themselves. No sweaty jock staps and no hairy bums to ruin a good day!

This is a harmless bit of fun and risk free for the healthy spectator, although those with weak hearts should seek medical advice before watching a bout between two nubile ladies. The Krakow stag party can certainly relax with oil wrestling – the BBC has finally become erotic!

But one thing that these worthy and well – organized sports can never have, is the crack and feedback of the real thing. For the lover of real big boys’ toys, here are some facts about the real guns that our Krakow lads can fire in safe and legal conditions.
Everybody has heard of the AK47 and most people associate it with all the wrong things. Here are some statistics:

Type: Assault rifle
Date of first manufacture: 1949 onwards
Designer: Mikhail Kalashnikov
Country: Soviet Union
Length: 654-870 mm depending on stock configuration
Barrel: 415 mm
Weight: 4.3 kg unloaded
Ammunition: 7.62 x 39mm cartridge
Firing rate: 600 rounds per minute
Muzzle velocity: 715 m/s (2,345 ft/s)

The AK47 (Automat Kalahnikova 1947) is a selective fire, gas operated assault rifle of Soviet origin in the 1940s. The designer, wearied by the efficiency and destructive power of Nazi weaponry used against his troops, came up with the idea and it’s been in use ever since. Used by regular armies, its durability and simplicity have also made it a favourite of terrorist organizations. More AK – type rifles have been produced than all the other assault rifles put together!
The requirement was simple. Most fire fights take place within 300 metres which is too short for a regular machine gun. It also made the range and power of exiting rifles surplus to requirement. So a compromise was required that was effective up to 300 metres and which combined the large capacity magazines and selective fire capabilities of machine guns. The first was the German Mauser that was used with horrendous effect against Kalashnikov and his contemporaries and which resulted in the birth of the AK47. Kalashnikov was committed to producing not just a competent rival, but something that was superior in almost every way. This was achieved by “borrowing” from a number of different weapons, each with different design advantages.
Perhaps its most famous feature, and one which has contributed to its longevity, is the ease with which it can be disassembled. This is also a relatively safe process if the rules are followed, so the guns, in competent hands, are always cleaned, oiled and ready to go. But, unlike many other weapons, the AK can function devastatingly when caked in mud, clogged with desert sand and dust, or when used in Siberian winter temperatures. It is truly a weapon for all terrains. Luckily, the Krakow stag party AK47 marksman will not be required to strip, clean and reassemble his rifle, nor will he have to perform feats of marksmanship in unfavourable conditions!
This gun is so reliable, that its useful lifespan is between 20 and 40 years and costs only about 50 GBP in many markets. But the price does not affect the delivery of its 8 gram load – the stag party markman will hit his targets (or maybe not!) with something that leaves the muzzle with an energy of 1,480 foot/lbs. For those who have forgotten the formula, it’s half mass x velocity squared.

So what about some other guns that the Krakow Stag target shooter can use?

The Uzi (or its Polish equivallent “Glauberyt”) is a famous weapon of Israeli design and production that has earned its place in the history of submachine guns. Is has similar effectiveness to the AK47 but is a bit smaller due to its shorter barrel length. The Uzi is as deadly as its Russian cousin and, yes, the Krakow stag can get to fire both at the same venue!
Here are some facts:

Length: 470 – 650 mm, depending on stock configuration
Barrel: 260 mm
Weight: 3.5 kg
Ammunition: 9 x 19mm Parabellum cartridge
Firing rate: 600 rounds per second
Muzzle velocity: 400 m/s
Range (effective): 120m
Maximum range: 200m

For the technically minded stag, the gun is of an open bolt, blow back design, a bit like James Bond’s Walther PPK. So when the gun is fired, the breech opens and out pops the empty cartridge. This has the great benefit of assisting cooling during extended firing, but also allows the entry of sand, dust and other unwanted materials. Hence the gun needs regular cleaning to avoid potentially embarrassing jamming.
The Uzi was one of the first guns to use a telescoping bolt. In this design, the barrel is housed a long way back into the main body of the gun, allowing the magazine to be housed in the pistol grip and keeps the barrel length down.

The Krakow stag party Rambo also gets to fire such interesting items as the Austrian Glock pistol.

Despite having a largely polymer construction, they have proved so reliable that 65% of all US police guns are Glocks.
The Austrian authorities decided upon replacing their existing Walther police and military hand guns and issued a set of criteria for would be designers. These included:

• The gun should be automatically loading
• The gun should fire the Parabellum 9×19mm cartridge
• The magazine capacity should be at least 8 rounds
• All operations needed had to be easily done using just one hand
• It should be safe from accidental discharge when dropped from a height of 2m
• The whole thing had to be capable of disassembly without tools
• Likewise maintenance and cleaning
• There should be a maximum of 58 components
• It had to be capable of firing 15,000 rounds without wear and tear
• There should be no risk of injury through spent cartridge ejection

So the pistol had to be not just good, but extremely good. And it is!
It is a 9mm short recoil semi-automatic and one of those where the barrel moves back a little when fired. But the really interesting stuff is that the frame, magazine body and several other critical elements are composed of a high impact nylon – based polymer. Or plastic! This is to resist chemical corrosion and the kind of trouble caused by extreme temperatures. It also has a hexagonal bore to the barrel. But whatever the technical attributes, this is one of the best pistols around and great gun for the Krakow stag party lad.

So what about our Krakow stag and the pump action shotgun (or Mossberg as it’s actually called) ?

When you fire a traditional shotgun, whether double or single barreled, you need to ready for the BANG of the discharge, the WHOOSH of the lead balls leaving the barrel under considerable pressure and the almighty great thump in the shoulder the recoil delivers. It’s great fun and has a kind of masculinity to it. But the downside is that every time you have fired off the cartridges, you need to break the barrel and shove two fresh cartridges into the breech.
The pump action variant dispenses with this particular hassle by having a tube magazine below the single barrel. You discharge a round then chamber the next by pulling the pump handle towards you and then pushing it back. As you do this, the gun automatically ejects the spent cartridge.
So there you have 4 of the most popular guns that you can fire at your stag party in Krakow. And very nice they are too.

Regarding safety tips, there are just a few when firing at a supervised range:

• Arrive clear headed
• Listen to the advice offered by the instructor
• Ask questions about anything you are unsure of
• Never play with a gun whether loaded, unloaded or non-functioning replica
• Never point the gun at anything other than the proper shooting range target
• Avoid alcohol and drugs before shooting. Accidents are avoidable but consequences often regrettable

So please feel confident about the great caliber of weaponry you will be offered as a stag party member in Krakow shooting ranges. Have fun and stay safe.

Go Karting for the Krakow Stag Party

Karting is a popular stag activity that uses a simple, 4 wheeled vehicle, usually on a small circuit. Racing drivers frequently make their initial marks in Karting and Robert Kubice, a Krakow lad, is a fine example of this trend. Others include Michael Schumacher, the late great Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, Fernando Alonso, Kimi Räikkönen and Lewis Hamilton

Karts vary dramatically in performance with some capable of 160 mph and with many others limited to a more leisurely 15 mph. The KF1 kart can hit 60 mph in just over 3 seconds, powered by a 150cc engine allied to a 6 speed gearbox. It has a top end of 115 mph.

The sport is generally believed to have started in the US. Art Ingels, a racing car constructor, built the first kart in California in 1956, but the first commercial models were produced 2 years later. The power unit was a modified 2-stroke chain saw motor! Later variants had motor cycle engines but now power units are specially produced. These can be electric (great for indoor venues) and both 2- and 4- stroke.

The chassis is made from steel tubing that is also the shock absorbing system. So the metal needs to be flexible enough to act like a torsion set up but rigid enough to keep the Krakow stag’s arse off the track. Some karts, but not all, have roll cages. A disc set up provides the braking.

There is no differential, so one of the rear tyres have to slide during cornering since they will both be turning at the same speed.. The chassis design allows the inside wheel to lift off the ground and transmission to the driven wheels is by chain or belt.

The Krakow karting stag must feel secure so safety equipment is provided for drivers. This includes helmets and overalls. Here are some tips for added security.

Give other drivers plenty of space. Tailgating might look sexy but it’s a dangerous thing to do, especially if the leading kart brakes suddenly -and this is something that all road drivers are aware of.

Cornering can be tricky, so spend some time at lower speeds getting your technique right. You steer into the turn but have to learn to shift your body weight whilst controlling the throttle to push you through. A lot of inexperienced drivers tend to slide off at the apex.

Balance aggression with caution. You need to drive hard to put in the best possible lap times but not at the expense of harming yourself or others.

Listen to the instructors. Just 5 minutes of attention before the event starts will mean that our Krakow stag party karters know the rules and safety tips. Also listen to any unusual noises coming from the machine itself. Should you hear any, take a rest and report it.

Always wear the overalls and helmets provided. Loose clothes underneath trainers are pretty standard.

Look a long way ahead in order to improve anticipation.

As usual, never drink and drive. A boozy “night before” can also lead to a hangover and vomitting into your helmet is not recommended!

So that’s all about karting – one of the most popular of Krakow stag party activities- and one of the best fun ways to enjoy the daylight hours.
